Workshops
Our coding workshop was a new event that allowed us to reach out to younger kids such as kindergarten to 5th graders and teach them about robotics. At the virtual event, Robostangs members, especially prior pipeline members, taught the students EV3 programming in several small groups. Many of the participants of the coding workshop also were members of our FLL program, where they were able to use their coding skills.
This year, we ran multiple workshops to develop important STEM skills in students of all ages. Our coding workshop was taught virtually by current Robostangs to teach elementary students EV3 programming. Our 2020 design lead ran a design workshop at the start of build season, familiarizing our build members with the design process and CAD software. Perhaps the Robostangs’ most impactful workshop is our AI Workshop. Sensing the importance of AI in robotics, we reached out to a MIT Professor to develop an engaging 3-hour seminar on the theme of Robotics and AI. We encouraged the entire FIRST community to get involved in this event. Over 100 people from multiple teams attended the event,
